“Climate Data?!?”…What is this is?!?

My justification for this category

I’ve been approached by many people to comment on climate change, and I must admit that I’ve never been able to pull specific stats out of thin air for a good argument.  I then went to look for a book that might have a compilation of data up to the point, but found no such book. Most of the books I found discussed what was going to happen if society didn’t commit to changing our thinking on climate, or the role of society in such a situation and all of the other social problems that could be addressed with a societal commitment to change. Neither of these allowed me to dive into the data though, i.e. judge their scientific method for myself. I did come across a wikipedia page (Scientific opinion on climate change) that started what I was looking for, but not entirely. So, I will be posting from time to time, some charts with a discussion of the data.

  1. Right on! I am interested to see what you come up with. I agree that it is difficult to get into the data and check the calculations. It’s also an enormous amount of data we are talking about.

  2. I like your balanced opinion on the matter. True scientist (not political side-picking). I don’t “believe” in climate change in the sense that my muffler caused it. In fact, I didn’t even believe the climate was heating up. However, it was when both sides got caught with their pants down that I found, what appears to be, the truth. 1) The climate is warming, but very, very slightly… to almost an irrelevant extent. 2) There’s great political power in a “centralized” effort to convince people to take action (i.e., spend money).

Here’s where I first came to believe that the climate is actually warming (and “deniers” are literally that, deniers), but also where the climate alarmist really got busted manipulating data for political reasons: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-4192182/World-leaders-duped-manipulated-global-warming-data.html
